Parenting is one tough job.
Full of rewards, beautiful moments, laughs, and love. However, raising children in today’s fast and hectic society often leaves parents feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, and stressed.
We understand.
We’re the Parent-to-Parent Network (P2P) and as parents ourselves, we know the life of a parent can feel like a juggling act. Our goal is to provide parents with expert information, tips, and support.
How we came to be.
The Parent to Parent Network idea was born from suggestions for parent involvement and education opportunities from parent’s participating in the 2001 Search Conference held by District 96. The Board approved the proposed concept and the 1st Parent to Parent Network program was held in Spring of 2002.
The District 96 Foundation sponsored the program the first year with a mini-grant. Understanding the importance for providing a resource specifically for parents and the community to stay informed about their child’s social and academic development, the Foundation voted to include it as a line item in their annual budget. The School District, the Foundation and Parent to Parent Network formed a partnership further supporting the programs goals.
Our Commitment.
Every year, the Parent to Parent Network core volunteers work hard to provide timely and quality parent education opportunities while fostering deeper relationships with the community. Our commitment to this program was recognized when the Parent to Parent Network was honored by the Illinois State Board of Education’s “Award for Excellence” in 2004.
What you can expect.
Our goal is to source reputable and reliable parenting professionals to provide a general overview of current and practical parenting topics. The District 96 Foundation is honored to provide all the necessary funding needed to support the Parent-to-Parent Network .
We encourage you to visit the Parent-to-Parent Network page located on the District’s website for more information. Be sure to find us on Facebook reporting upcoming parent programs and information.
